I've just been reading and seeing that this year's coming Antarctic summer is bringing one of the last great title's in Antarctic expedition: solo trek to South Pole, unaided.
This means, no skiis, no partners, just one person and a sled. A distance of almost 1,400 miles return. The outbound journey is all uphill as they climb the ice sheet towards 0' S longitude.
